The Gender Division has hosted a High-Level Women in Leadership conference at the Mulungushi International Conference Centre in Lusaka, attracting scores of aspiring female councilors, Council Chairpersons, Mayors, and Members of Parliament.
The event was graced by the Right Honorable Speaker Ms. Nelly Kashumba Mutti SC MP and the Honorable Minister of Lands of Lands and Natural Resources, Ms. Silvia Masebo MP.
Others in attendance included Non-Governmental Gender Organization Coordinating Council (NGOCC) Chairperson Ms. Beauty Katebe and media veterans who participated in interview panel discussions, which was aimed at inspiring the participants.
In a keynote speech, Speaker of the National Assembly Madam Nellie Mutti praised the Gender Division’s efforts to encourage women in decision making processes.
Minister of Lands Sylvia Masebo who was impressed with the huge turnout of female aspirants, stressed the need for women’s active participation in shaping Zambia’s political, economic, and social destiny.
In her remarks, Ms. Kabika added that women are presented with a defining moment to broaden democratic space and ensure they are not mere observers in governance, but active architects of national development.
