GENDER DIVISION PERMANENT SECRETARY CALLS FOR WOMEN PARTICIPATION IN KEEPING THE DRAINAGE SYSTEM CLEAN

A tour in Kanyama this morning saw the Gender Division Permanent Secretary, Ms Mainga Kabika, emphasizing the importance of women’s participation in maintaining the drainage system.
Ms Kabika stressed that women should take the lead in keeping the surrounding clean.
She said this during a tour that aimed at assessing the state of the drainage system.
Among the dignitaries was Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development, Gabriel Polleni, and Kanyama Member of Parliament, Honorable Chinkuli among other government officials present, Permanent Secretary Lusaka province is Eng. Joe Kalusa, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Green Economy and Environment of Zambia, Dr. Douty Chibamba, and DMMU National Coordinator Mr. Norman Chipakupaku.
Honorable Chikuli expressed hope that the necessary works would be completed before the onset of the rain season to prevent floods in the area, a problem that has in several years rocked Kanyama.
And PS Local Government and Rural Development, Gabriel Polleni has acknowledged the issue and pledged to take action, including improving drainage systems among other solutions.
