In a grand celebration of 40 years of tireless efforts towards promoting gender equity and equality, the Non-Governmental Gender Organizations Coordinating Council (NGOCC) hosted an awards gala dinner on September 19, 2025.
Delivering the speech, Gender Division Permanent Secretary, Mainga Kabika, commended the work NGOCC has done over the years and emphasized the importance of collaboration between government and civil society organizations in achieving gender equality.
Ms Kabika also called upon all stakeholders to work together to dismantle barriers hindering women’s progress in order to achieve greater representation in leadership positions.
The event was graced by Her Honor, Vice President Dr. W.K Mutale Nalumango and other high profile guests such as the Speaker of the National Assembly represented by the First Deputy Speaker Hon. Malungo A. Chisangano, The Minister of Justice Represented By Permanent Secretary Mrs Mwenya Bwalya, Ambassador of Swidden accredited to Zambia , UNFPA and UNDP country representatives, Access Bank Manager and other Senior government officials.
The gala awarded various women and men who have played a pivotal role championing gender equality in Zambia among the Hon. Inonge Mbikusita Lewanika and The Late Lucy Sichone .
