The Ministry of Home Affairs and Internal Security, Permanent Secretary, Dickson Matembo, on Tuesday, 8th April, 2025, graced a groundbreaking ceremony for a new Daycare facility and women’s accommodation on Tuesday, April 8, 2025. The project aims to address key barriers hindering women’s full participation in peace support operations.
Unavailing the structure, Gender Division Permanent Secretary, Mainga Kabika, expressed gratitude to the Ministry for supporting the initiative, stating that the kind gesture demonstrates a commitment to gender mainstreaming.
“The Gender mainstreaming is being considered in this construction meaning infrastructure has to equally represent the needs of women,” Ms Kabika stated.
The Daycare facility and women’s accommodation will provide an enabling environment for women to participate in peace support operations.
The initiative is an important step towards promoting women’s empowerment and addressing gender inequality.
The Gender Division’s efforts, led by PS Kabika, is a clear indication to creating a more inclusive and equitable society.
