*GENDER DIVISION LAUNCHES 16 DAYS OF ACTIVISM AGAINST GBV*

The Gender Division has officially launched the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence (GBV), themed “Towards Beijing+30: UNiTE to End Violence Against Women and Girls.”
 
The event, which took place on Monday, 25th November, 2024, was flagged off by the Division’s Permanent Secretary Mainga Kabika, who led three routes of the match past.
 
The march past comprised participants from the civil service, private sector, and civil society organizations.
President Hakainde Hichilema, who was the guest of honor, emphasized the importance of men taking responsibility to stop violence against women.
 
His message resonated with the high-spirited attendees, who turned out in large numbers and the display of theatrics to support the cause.
 
The 16 Days of Activism Against GBV is a global campaign that aims to raise awareness and mobilize action to prevent violence against women and girls.
 
Notably, this year’s theme highlights the need for collective action to end GBV and promote gender equality.
 
And this was evidenced by the massive turn out and involvement of the various stakeholders including the country’s leadership to drum up this campaign.
