WOMEN’S MOVEMENT WELCOME GENDER DIVISION EMPOWERMENT PROGRAMMMES

MWENSE- Women in Mwense District, Luapula Province have praised the New Dawn Government under President Hakainde Hichilema and in particular the Gender Division for empowering them in a sustainable manner as opposed to being empowered by consumption-based freebies.
The women who recently secured a contract to supply uniforms for a government school in the district after being empowered by the Gender Division led by Ms.Mainga Kabika, the Permanent Secretary, applauded Government through the Gender Division for giving the them tools, resources and support to improve their lives in a way that is long-lasting and self-sustaining.

Judith Kunda, a beneficiary of a set of sewing machines and a starter packs consisting of assorted materials – suiting materials, chitenge , reusable sanitary wear materials, cotton and other accessories thanked President Hakainde Hichilema for dignifying the women through sustainable empowerment.

“We thank President Hakainde Hichilema for equipping us with capabilities that are valuable to actively participate in the development and decision making of our communities,” she said.
Another woman, Victoria Mwape thanked President Hichilema for initiating empowerment programmes describing the act as a strategic decision in accelerating development in families and communities.
The empowerment of women is a significant fulfilment of the 2021-2026 UPND Party Manifesto that is anchored on empowering women through business opportunities.

During the commemoration of the 2024 International Women’s Day, President Hichilema said that the New Dawn Government understands the value of investing in women and is doing everything possible to ensure that women are empowered to play a vital role in various sectors of the economy.
