Launch of the Gender Based Violence (GBV) Referral and Service Directories

0n 16th December,2022 the Gender Division launched the GBV Referral and Service Directories.

The Launch was graced by Mr. Siazongo Siakalenge Deputy Secretary to the Cabinet who was the Guest of Honour, Gender Division Permanent Secretary Mrs. Mainga Kabika, The German Ambassador Ms. Anne Wagner-Mitchell, Champion Ending Child Marriages and GBV related cases Chief Chamuka, The Executive Director ZCCP Mr. Johanis Mutonga and Gender Division Chief Planner Mr. Andrea Habweza.

In her Welcoming remarks, the Gender Division Permanent Secretary, stated that “the Launch that we will be witnessing today is happening at an important time when the government is in the process of reviewing Policies and Statutes, such as the National Gender Policy of 2022 as well as the Anti-GBV Act that will ultimately create a conducive environment for coordinated efforts by various GBV stakeholders.”

And in the Key Note Speech the Guest of Honour, stated that “Today, the Gender Division is launching the distribution of GBV Referral and Service Directories that have been developed for all the one hundred and sixteen (116) Districts. The GBV Referral and Service Directories contain Information and Contact Details for Service Providers in the GBV Referral System in the Districts.  It is important to note that what we are doing and saying through these Directories to the Community Members is that services are available for them, their relatives and Neighbours in the Districts”.  

 

The Directories were developed to enhance the Referral System and Reporting mechanism of GBV related cases.
